Biography

Professor Nihar Ranjan Chattopadhyay is a visiting research professor of the Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India. He is the ex-Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Fishery Sciences at the University of Animal & Fishery Sciences and an Ex – Reader (Research) in Fisheries at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal. With over 50 publications in various international journals with high impact factor, Dr. Chattopadhyay has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in diverse field of aquaculture such as fish breeding, hatchery management, fish genetics and open water culture. He has standardized the induced spawning and breeding of two exotic species of fish like Pangasius and Brachypomus and also developed technology on fish breeding and larval rearing. He has published various books in this field and has been the recipient of many prestigious certificates and awards including honorable fellow award from the Institute of Aquaculture (IAS), Singapore for outstanding work in aquaculture field.
